Cruagh Island

Cruagh Island is situate off the north west Connemara coastline and covers an area of circa 84 acres. It is quite fertile and was mainly used for sheep rearing and fattening. Access onto the island is best from the east side and can be achieved relatively easy on good to fair weather.Cruagh is approx. one and three quarter miles from Aughris pier and from Omey Island (west side).

This is a once off opportunity to acquire a private island and a very special one. Its proximity to the mainland makes it unique and yet it’s a world away from the hustle and bustle of modern life, a place to chill out and enjoy nature to its fullest. Cruagh has a rough natural beauty with hills and valleys, steep cliffs and beautiful inlets. Wild life is in abundance with both bird life and sea life all around to include Manx shearwaters, seals and dolphins for regular company. One can enjoy a natural swimming pool where every six hours the tide returns to refresh the water.

The island also enjoys its own spring well.
